Fans are speculating whether the iconic museum was actually featured in the show.

Undoubtedly, Netflix's Heartstopper has become one of the most popular shows in the streaming giant's catalogue after its second season shot to the top of all rankings. Now, people can't wait to see the upcoming third instalment. However, the show's first season enjoyed only niche success among hard-core fans of the romantic genre, meaning when the second season was being filmed, the producers could hardly have anticipated how successful it was going to be around the world. Thus, some viewers are now wondering whether certain scenes in season 2 were actually filmed on location.

We are, of course, talking about Charlie and Nick's trip to Paris, where the boys and their classmates visited one of the most renowned museums in the world - the Louvre, home to the Mona Lisa. While many other films and series have been shot in this globally famous location, the question is whether Heartstopper's Louvre scenes were actually filmed there.

A Difficult Shoot

Although the scenes in the Louvre appeared impressive in the show, fans observed that some of the locations didn't resemble the Louvre at all. Here's why:

Clearly, the Louvre is a bustling museum, and even high-profile productions like John Wick 4 are given a very limited time frame to film the scenes they need. As a result, Heartstopper's crew were only allotted 15 minutes for filming, enabling them to shoot in only a few iconic spots, with the remainder filmed in other art galleries.

'They were only allowed to have about 15 people in the Louvre to film so even Alice wasn't there. That's why they inserted a lot of background characters with CGI. It's also why the director, Euros Lyn, played the security guard - they couldn't justify having an extra come in just to film that one line,' a fan said.

Louvre Look-Alikes

With the Louvre off-limits for filming, Heartstopper's crew had to improvise. They transformed the café at the Royal Academy of Arts into the Louvre's café and used some of the halls of London's Dulwich Picture Gallery to replicate the look of the Louvre's interiors.
