Are Elizabeth & Lucas the Endgame in When Calls the Heart After All?

Hallmark's When Calls the Heart has been a master class in melodrama for nearly a decade. The story of Elizabeth, a young woman from high society who abandoned her privileged life to teach at the local school in a small town on the Canadian frontier, kept getting better with each new episode. However, the current tenth season has significantly upset fans, as the new showrunner's decisions have proven to be a massive disappointment for all viewers of the period drama.
The issue is that fans have been looking forward to Elizabeth and Lucas's wedding for the past three seasons. Thus, when Elizabeth ended things with Lucas because she didn't want to move to Capitol City for four years if Lucas got elected governor, it didn't at all sit well with the fandom. However, now it would appear that Elizabeth and Lucas may still be the endgame.
The Truth Will Be Revealed
With only one episode left in Season 10, fans are certain that the finale will feature some kind of a big reveal, which will possibly determine the fate of Elizabeth and Lucas as a couple. Although Elizabeth has already declared she won't be following Lucas to Capitol City to support him in his role as governor, fans are confident she might still change her mind.
If Elizabeth and Lucas do part ways, it will have rendered the previous two seasons utterly pointless, making When Calls the Heart seem like a trivial soap opera. Fans are questioning why the writers chose to introduce this storyline, given that every heartie was so psyched to see Elizabeth and Lucas tie the knot.
Lucas’s Return
While many fans speculated that Lucas would be written out of the show if Elizabeth ended their relationship, that may not be the case. Actor Chris McNally has been confirmed to return to When Calls the Heart, indicating that Lucas may continue his storyline as a single man or that Elizabeth and Lucas might still end up together.
