American Idol Season 21 Schedule Shake-Up Explained: When is the Next Episode?
Fans were surprised not to see another episode this Monday.
Throughout Season 21, American Idol's schedule never really changed, with two episodes airing every Sunday and Monday. However, just as fans were starting to get excited for the rapidly approaching finale, ABC decided to change the schedule, refusing to air an episode this past Monday and opting to release the upcoming Disney-themed episode next Sunday.
Here are all the remaining American Idol episode release dates and the schedule shake-up explained.
- Episode 18. Disney Night – May 14, 2023
- Episode 19. Journey to the Finale – May 15, 2023
- Episode 20. Season Finale – May 21, 2023
Before Monday this week, fans were already eager to see how the finalists would approach singing famous songs from Disney movies, but unfortunately, they have to wait a whole week longer than expected. Now there are only a few days left before 'Disney Night' arrives on ABC this Sunday, which is all the more exciting because Episode 18 is likely to be the last real episode before Season 21 finale.
Yes, the next Episode 19, named 'Journey to the Finale,' may be actually less sensational than its title suggests. According to some sources, this could be a filler episode with no new material shown during its running time. If the rumors are to be believed, 'Journey to the Finale' will only feature a montage of the best moments of Season 21, so fans can be entertained while the contestants prepare for their final battle next week.
With Haven Madison and Oliver Steele finally out of the picture after last week's episode, the Final Five is already in place. Colin Stough, Iam Tongi, Wé Ani, Megan Danielle, and Zachariah Smith are all getting ready to unleash their unique renditions of famous Disney songs.
Although there are no clear frontrunners, some fans are pretty sure that Stough and Danielle have a bit of a lead right now, as their Ed Sheeran cover was the biggest highlight of last week's episode.
The previous episode provided enough exciting moments for fans to survive this long wait without their favorite singers, and we can be sure they'll blow the roof off with their upcoming Disney renditions.
