It looks like the latest contender for American Idol glory may be a little iffy.

American Idol has been around for ages, as this reality singing competition single-handedly created the genre back in 2002, giving every talented singer the opportunity to become a true celebrity after showcasing their talents on the show.

However, the show has been on the air for so long without changing its formula that many fans have stopped watching it altogether, preferring other singing competitions with fresher approaches to hackneyed formulas.

Despite this, American Idol is still one of the most watched shows on network television, and its new season has already caused some serious controversy among fans.

While season 21 is in the audition process and the judges travel from city to city trying to find the next big talent, fans are eagerly following the process, as many find the audition episodes more interesting than the competition ones. However, a recent episode made fans a little worried about the show, as one of the contestants turned out to be a little dubious.

Mariah Faith appeared before the judges in the fifth episode of the show and spent almost 15 minutes speaking in front of the camera, which made fans wonder why she was given so much screen time at all.

While Mariah is certainly talented and has a beautiful voice, fans still feel that the attention given to her by the judges was too much. According to some viewers, the reason for this may be rather obvious and disappointing.

Many believe that Mariah either has some serious ties to American Idol's production staff or that her talent agent made a deal with ABC, as her protracted audition clearly indicates some sort of corporate connection or cross-promotion.

Fans are clearly outraged by this, arguing that American Idol should treat all its contestants equally, not allowing some to spend more time with the judges than the rest.

While this may all remain just a theory, fans will be watching Mariah more closely from this episode, trying to determine if foul play is indeed taking place.
