American Idol Fans In Uproar Over Judges Saving Nutsa
What do the judges see in this underwhelming contestant?
As the 21st season of American Idol approaches its finale, the Top 12 were officially announced earlier this week. While fans respect the judges' expertise, this season's selection of the best singers has left some baffled, as several outstanding singers were let go while the more basic and disappointing ones managed to make it to the finale.
People are particularly upset that Lucy Love and Nutsa Buzaladze slipped into the Top 12, as both appear quite underwhelming compared to the truly exceptional contestants this season.
When Nutsa had to sing for her spot in the Top 12 after failing to secure the required number of votes, no fan anticipated her being saved by the judges. Many expected her to be eliminated following her performance of And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going. Fans criticised her performance as basic and uninspired, lacking the grace and emotion that Kaeyra and Olivia brought to the episode. Witnessing them leave while Nutsa stayed was genuinely heartbreaking for fans.
‘I don’t think there’s any question Kaeyra and Olivia were the robbed queens of the season,’ one fan summed up the situation.
Many people are convinced that Nutsa will not fare any better in the Top 12 and will likely be eliminated in the next round. Fans believe Nutsa simply doesn't have what it takes to win on American Idol, and this has nothing to do with her not being from the US. The issue is that she isn't engaging to watch, and her singing style is considered by many as a relic of the past. While she undoubtedly has got a great voice, her performance skills leave much to be desired.
‘And why did Lucy stay while missing notes, and why did Nutsa stay while not connecting emotionally?’ one fan asked after watching that disappointing episode.
With the finale fast approaching, there isn't much hope that the contestants saved by the judges can step up their game and deliver more compelling performances. It looks like the eliminated talents may very well end up being remembered as the true standouts of this season.
