Fans are disappointed in the show.

Despite being one of the most popular and critically acclaimed horror series of the last decade, American Horror Story began to lose momentum a few years ago, as new seasons lacked the quality of the first and felt too tedious for fans to enjoy. The plots were boring, the actors were clearly not even trying, and Ryan Murphy was far too busy building his own empire on Netflix to even notice. However, after Season 11 flopped so badly that people started wondering if the show would be canceled, Murphy finally decided to try and save the situation.

And things looked promising from the start - Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian were cast in the lead roles, and the story of a young actress who keeps failing to get pregnant seemed actually exciting. But something went wrong along the way.

A disappointing start

It looks like Murphy spent a little too much time creating prestige series like Dahmer for Netflix and simply forgot why fans love AHS, as Season 12 feels nothing like the original installments of the hit anthology series. Three episodes in, fans are massively disappointed by how dull and slow the season is turning out to be, with storylines moving at a snail's pace and looking completely unconvincing at best and downright bad at worst.

While the first seasons of AHS grabbed attention from the very first episodes, season 12 still can't find its pacing, boring fans to death. The only thing that keeps fans coming back to the show is Kim's performance, as the reality star shocked everyone with her genuine acting talent and campy performance worthy of the greatest seasons of AHS.

Things could still change

Although season 12 has been mind-numbingly boring so far, fans are confident that the pace will pick up in the next episode, as both the trailer and the original book certainly promised more action than we are currently getting. Maybe Murphy is just using some good old-fashioned suspense to shock us with an unexpected twist later on?

American Horror Story Season 12 Episode 4 will premiere on October 11, 2023 on FX.
