All Creatures Great and Small's Samuel West Comes From a Very Famous Family

The Channel 5 drama about a veterinarian struggling to help animals in 1930s England became one of the ultimate feel-good series when it premiered on PBS in the US.

Viewers loved the show's carefully constructed atmosphere and its dry but hilarious humor. However, not all fans know that Samuel West, who plays Siegfried Farnon on the show, has quite the acting pedigree.

Samuel has been trying to break into the mainstream for quite some time, appearing in several high profile movies and series in rather small roles, but it looks like the current decade has started off just great for the performer, as he landed one of the lead roles in All Creatures Great and Small and also played a major role in Apple TV's Slow Horses.

At this rate, it looks like Samuel West will eclipse the popularity of both of his parents.

Samuel's mother is the iconic British actress Prunella Scales, best known for her cult role as Sybil Fawlty, the wife of John Cleese's Basil Fawlty in the BBC comedy series Fawlty Towers. In addition to this comedy series, Prunella starred in many other successful productions including Howards End, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and The Boys from Brazil.

Although Prunella's acting career came to an end due to her deteriorating health, she is still very much loved by her fans.

Samuel's father Timothy West is no less of a legend than his wife, as this character actor has such an iconic face that it's just impossible not to remember him.

Best known for his roles in Bleak House and the BBC thriller Exile, he is also loved and cherished by the general public thanks to his appearances in soaps EastEnders and Coronation Street. West continues to star in films and television shows to this day.

It looks like Samuel West is living up to his parents' expectations and preparing to reach even greater heights in his career after receiving such positive feedback for his role in All Creatures Great and Small.
