Ahsoka Season 2 Star Teases Bigger Role And More Action Than Ever

The new episodes are in the can—now the wait begins, with the premiere date still under wraps.
Ahsoka season 2 is coming up, and one Rebel vet is getting more screen time this round. Hera Syndulla — yes, New Republic General Hera Syndulla, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead — is stepping further into the spotlight. Good. She deserved more to do after season 1 had her juggling duty, loyalty to her friends, and almost getting court-martialed for ignoring orders.
Hera moves up the call sheet
Winstead just gave a small but telling update about Hera's role. She kept it vague (because Disney snipers), but the gist is: more Hera, more action, more actually doing things. She told Collider she literally just wrapped and had a blast, then clammed up because she hasn't been handed her spoiler guidelines yet. Relatable.
"I'm in this season a bit more, which is fun. I'm definitely in on the action... quite a bit more, which was great to have a Hera really, kind of like, you know, getting some stuff done... I just finished it, and it was an absolute blast."
Production: cameras down, sabers off
Season 2 has officially wrapped filming. Sabine Wren's Natasha Liu Bordizzo marked the moment with a behind-the-scenes photo earlier this month, and Rosario Dawson shared a quick peek at the cast wrap party on Instagram Stories. So yes, it's in the can — now we wait.
What we know about the story (and what we don’t)
Plot details are locked up tighter than a Jedi archive, but Star Wars Celebration earlier this year dropped a few tasty breadcrumbs. These are very much for the fans who keep track of the galaxy far, far away like a second job:
- Dave Filoni said Admiral Ackbar is back and squaring up against Grand Admiral Thrawn.
- Rory McCann (yep, the Hound from Game of Thrones) is stepping into the role of Baylan, inheriting it from the late Ray Stevenson.
- Hayden Christensen confirmed that Anakin is returning.
Behind the camera
Bryce Dallas Howard directed two episodes this season and is fully hyped about what they put together.
"It is so good, it's beautiful, it's thrilling, it's adventurous, it's romantic. It is all the things that you want from an epic story."
So when can we actually watch it?
No release date yet. The next Star Wars project on the calendar is The Mandalorian and Grogu hitting theaters May 22. After that, keep your expectations primed for Ahsoka to swoop in — just not with a firm date attached yet.
