No one is happier now than Star Wars fans.

Let's be honest; we had our reservations. The primary issue with Dave Filoni's live-action series was its pacing, as the first half of Ahsoka could have easily been condensed into just a couple of episodes. However, the series then picked up pace, unveiling numerous lore-heavy elements and revealing the main danger in the final episodes — Admiral Thrawn and his Empire remnants, threatening the nascent New Republic.

Whether you're a fan of the Filoniverse or not, it's difficult to deny the fidelity of his work not only to George Lucas's cinematic style and ideas but also to the fans, offering story elements that are critical to the overall Star Wars narrative. The result is an unprecedented surge in fan excitement, particularly due to a major cameo at the end of the finale episode.

This article contains spoilers, so we strongly recommend watching the season finale first!

All Important Cameo

The most notable scene was a cameo by Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, who, unlike previous appearances in flashbacks, holograms, or strange projections in The World Between Worlds, appeared as a Force ghost, smiling at Ahsoka and her apprentice, Sabine, from afar.

Frenzied Fans

This final appearance of Anakin has genuinely excited fans, who are now collectively declaring Ahsoka as peak television. It's challenging to dispute that sentiment! After all, this might be Christensen's last portrayal of Anakin (we hope not), and it made for a fitting conclusion to the story of Ahsoka's training and her journey to becoming a wise Force-wielder.

Parallels to The Clone Wars

Fans quickly recognized how the narrative and cinematography of this cameo tied the story back to the events of The Clone Wars. In Season 5, Ahsoka Tano was falsely accused of treason and murder. Though Anakin managed to prove his Padawan's innocence, she became disenchanted with the Jedi Order and its bureaucracy, leaving it for good.

That was the second-to-last encounter between Master and Apprentice before the former succumbed to the Dark Side. While Ahsoka's departure was undoubtedly the right choice, as she found the Force in the real world rather than in Jedi conservatism, it haunted her until the events of the live-action series, as she blamed herself for what happened to Anakin.

Force-ghost Anakin's gaze at Ahsoka from a distance was not merely a reference to that moment but also signaled that Ahsoka's training was finally complete. She had managed to let go of her attachments and was ready to become a master herself.
