Adam Lambert wasn't eager to jump on the A Star is Born hype train.

While Adam Lambert is already an iconic presence in the music industry, he has never tried to excel in other artistic fields, even though Hollywood producers have long wanted to turn him into a bona fide movie star. Lambert and Lady Gaga have been good friends ever since Lambert became an American Idol sensation in 2009, so the producers' decision to cast him as the best friend of Gaga's character in Bradley Cooper's A Star is Born seemed like a perfect idea.

But Lambert turned down the offer, and here's why.

Lambert was asked to audition for the role of Ramon, the best friend of Gaga's character who has been by her side from her waitressing days to her rise to stardom. The role was quite important, and Ramon was even gay, just like Lambert, which seemingly. made him a perfect fit for the part. However, Lambert was a little uncomfortable about the idea of playing the role because he had the wrong ethnicity for it.

'I got the script and realised that he was a Latin American character. I wondered, "How is this gonna work? Should I just not go to the audition? This is not my part",' Lambert said.

And fans are happy that Lambert decided to turn down the lucrative offer because Ramon was clearly written to be played by a Latino actor. In the end, theatre star Anthony Ramos got the part, and even though he was pretty forgettable in the movie, disappearing behind great performances by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, at least he didn't offend anybody's sensibilities, which, some might argue, is more important these days.

With a net worth of $45 million, it looks like Lambert has no regrets about turning down the role, as his busy touring schedule is already a lot for him to handle, and becoming a movie star may well have stretched him too far. In the end, Lambert's performance with Gaga on the big screen would have been a great story to tell the kids but not something that could have affected his career trajectory very much.
