The hit romantic series is not going to premiere this summer, as previously expected.

Back in 2019, audiences fell in love with Netflix's melodrama Virgin River and its central character, Mel, who decided to leave her life in LA after a family tragedy and move to a quiet Northern California town in search of love and acceptance.

Fans enjoyed their time following Mel's new life in the sleepy small town, watching the woman embrace her new job and begin a relationship with Jack, a mysterious and charming Virgin River resident.

At the end of Season 4, Mel was already pregnant with Jack's baby, and many fans were excited to see her and Charmaine, who has been pregnant with her twins since Season 1, give birth at the same time — even though this obviously contradicts the natural pregnancy timeline, but those things are possible in the fictional world of Virgin River.

Unfortunately, it looks like we'll have to wait some more time to see those storylines concluded, as Season 5 is said to arrive much later than previously expected.

The last two seasons of Virgin River were released in the summer, so people were hoping that the new chapter of the romantic saga would hit the screens this July. However, the producers did not share any details about the new installment, leading fans to believe that Season 5 would be delayed. And now, we finally have the official confirmation from Netflix — Virgin River's next chapter will be released this fall, not this summer.

While this news is definitely a big bummer for fans, Virgin River is actually in a great position right now, as the ongoing WGA strike has not affected the production of the show, and it has not been postponed indefinitely like many other TV projects out there. The series is currently in post-production, and the final touches are being added to bring the best possible experience to fans.

Moreover, even before the Season 5 premiere, Netflix has already renewed the show for a sixth season. The streaming service is clearly confident about the lasting success of its hit series, so with that news in mind, waiting a few more months for the show's return doesn't sound too painful.
