It looks like Lagerfeld's cat has yet to be announced as a millionaire.

Karl Lagerfeld was a true fashion icon in his time, saving Chanel from collapse in the 1980s, while turning his own brands into high fashion institutions to be reckoned with. The designer passed away in 2019, and this year, the Met Gala is paying tribute to him to celebrate his 90th birthday.

That is why many fans decided to take a closer look at Lagerfeld's life, and to everyone's surprise, it looks like a big chunk of his inheritance will actually fall into the paws of his beloved cat — Choupette.

At the time of his untimely death, Lagerfeld had amassed a net worth of $300 million, making him one of the richest fashion designers out there. Don't think that all of that money will go to his cat, though, as Lagerfeld stipulated before his death that most of his wealth would go to his godson and a few high-profile fashion professionals.

However, Choupette was supposed to get a few million dollars for her time spent with the fashion icon, but unfortunately, just like other beneficiaries of Lagerfeld's estate, she hasn't received a penny of her money yet.

The thing is, Lagerfeld's accountant, Lucien Frydlender, retired the moment the fashion designer died and refused to help the beneficiaries get the money from the will.

While many people immediately accused the accountant of foul play, it was later revealed that he was struggling with health issues himself and was simply unable to assist.

Still, Lagerfeld's godson and cat haven't received the money even after four years of delay, and in Choupette's case, she might not get it at all. French law actually does not allow you to leave money to pets, which means that the money intended for Lagerfeld's cat will probably be transferred to the people who agreed to take care of her (perhaps this could be one of his other beneficiaries).

In any case, it looks like Lagerfeld has managed to cement his status as a great provocateur — even after his death!
