Starz's Outlander is definitely one of the most revered period shows out there, and one of the main reasons for its popularity is the relationship between the main characters, Claire and Jamie Fraser, evolving against the backdrop of major historical events.

Now it looks like the upcoming Season 7 of Outlander won't be the easiest time for the lovers (and the rest of America, for that matter).

Here are five takeaways from the couple's recently released promotional photos.

5. The war is near

Thanks to the photos of Jamie posing in front of a cannon on the battlefield, it's easy to deduce that the upcoming season will finally feature the Continental War in all its gruesome glory, as Jamie and Claire will be fighting for the country's independence. Fans are hoping that Starz doesn't drop the ball in making the war look as realistic as the early battles of the first two seasons.

4. Jamie will not wear a Continental uniform

While Jamie fights for the Continentalist cause in the war, the photos don't show him wearing a uniform, much to the disappointment of fans who would like to see him in full battle gear. However, some suspect that Jamie will put on a Continental uniform by the end of Season 7, just like in the original books.

3. Jamie and Claire are still in America

Even though Claire and Jamie have been living in America for quite some time now, many people are still eager to see them return to Scotland, where they first met in Season 1. Fans just miss those misty valleys and twisted woods, but sadly, the photos prove that America is still very much a home for the couple.

2. Jamie and Claire are still ridiculously young

While Jamie must be in his late 50s according to the original books, he still looks very young in the photos, proving that the producers decided not to use prosthetics and makeup to make Sam Heughan look older than he is. While Diana Gabaldon's purists are a bit disappointed, all of us Jamie stans are perfectly happy to see the character this way.

1. Costume designers get lazy

While Outlander's producers always pride themselves on making the show look as authentic as possible, it seems that Claire's blouse from the photos is causing a major problem for some fans. People have pointed out that it doesn't fit the show's 18th-century setting at all.
