5 Biggest Reasons Keeley's Arc Just Ain't Working in Ted Lasso Season 3
It looks like Keeley has fallen from grace pretty hard this season.
While the third season of Ted Lasso continues to attract lots of fan attention, most viewers agree that the current installment has been a huge step down for the show. Most of this season's storylines feel increasingly bloated and stale, so even fan-favorite characters like Keeley Jones suffer as a result.
Here are five reasons why Keeley's PR firm arc is the worst in Season 3.
5. Keeley is passive in her own story
Watching the first two seasons, fans praised Keeley for her compelling, active personality. She came across as a person who was not afraid to take risks, and her strength and dedication paid off as she became the head of a PR firm.
However, the new position didn't help the character to blossom further, as everything that happened to Keeley in Season 3 made her seem like a victim of circumstances, not a capable character in her own right. Her breakup with Roy and the sex tape leak could have been handled differently, and it's unclear why the writers made Keeley assume the passive position.
4. Roy and Keeley are no longer a thing
Roy and Keeley were one of the best couples in Ted Lasso, and fans expected them to develop their relationship further in Season 3. But as we all know, Roy decided to leave Keeley, forcing fans to wish for a reunion at some point. Sadly, the split basically ruined Keeley's chances of becoming an interesting solo character.
3. The writers are being lazy with Keeley's arc
The idea of seeing Keeley work as a director of a PR firm seemed like a great feature on paper, but the execution of this storyline fell completely flat. Instead of delighting fans with interesting clients or work cases, the writers decided to show how sad Keeley is all the time, ruining the whole storyline in an instant.
2. She steals the spotlight from Ted
While Coach Ted is still the main character of the show, this season devotes as much time to Keeley, leaving fans wondering who the real main character of this installment is. The idea of seeing more of Keeley was certainly interesting at first, but viewers quickly grew tired of the character doing the same things over and over again in every episode.
1. Her storyline is completely disconnected from the show
For a show about English soccer, Ted Lasso spends far too much time on Keeley's PR firm storyline. Focusing solely on her professional struggles, her storyline has virtually no connection to the show's main narrative arc, and this is what concerns fans the most.
Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 10 will arrive on Apple TV + on May 17, 2023.
