It looks like people have lost track of the luxurious wedding gown.

Twelve years ago, Kate Middleton and Prince William's wedding was the talk of the town, often described as the wedding of the century. Understandably, Kate wanted to look her best for the occasion, and her stunning classic wedding dress became the biggest focal point of the entire event, with millions of people passionately discussing every detail of her luxurious yet elegant gown.

But where is it now and how much did Kate and her family pay for it?

The dress was made for Middleton by Sarah Burton, an English fashion designer who currently works as the creative director of Alexander McQueen, and many were impressed that Middleton decided to honor the late designer by choosing a dress made by one of his students. The gown reportedly cost nearly 250,000 pounds, and apparently the bride's parents paid for it.

After the wedding, the dress was displayed at Buckingham Palace, and the three-month exhibition was visited by over 600,000 people, making it one of the most popular fashion exhibitions in history. However, after the exhibition ended, the dress apparently disappeared into the royal family's storerooms, as it has not been seen since. Presumably, it is being kept in a safe place and may be exhibited at some point in the future.

However, that doesn't mean you can't see a design of the dress live, as numerous replicas were made just hours after Middleton unveiled her wedding look on the morning of the event. Today, it is even possible to purchase some high-end replicas of the bridal gown, which can cost up to thousands of dollars per item. Clearly, Burton and Middleton managed to create a true fashion masterpiece!

Some people suspect that Middleton's wedding dress may be added to the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in the coming years, as this collection of important design products is surely the best place to permanently store and exhibit such a valuable piece. Hopefully, the Princess of Wales will allow her gown to be on public display for years to come!
