Prime Video steps into the ring with The Iron Claw, the acclaimed true-life sports drama on the rise and heartbreak of the Von Erich wrestling dynasty, led by Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White with Lily James, Harris Dickinson, and Holt McCallany—streaming soon.

Wrestling tragedy, brotherhood, and some truly wild 80s hair are headed to your couch: A24's The Iron Claw finally hits streaming on Prime Video this month. Yes, it took a minute.

When and where

The Iron Claw starts streaming on Prime Video on November 19, 2025. The film originally opened in theaters back on December 22, 2023.

What it is (and why people cared)

Sean Durkin wrote and directed this biographical sports drama about the real-life Von Erich family, a dynasty in professional wrestling whose success came with a heavy dose of heartbreak. Zac Efron plays Kevin Von Erich, with Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich. The movie quietly became a hit and stuck with people for a reason: it is tough, empathetic, and not just for wrestling fans.

  • Cast: Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Lily James, Harris Dickinson, Holt McCallany, and more
  • Director/Writer: Sean Durkin
  • Distributor/Producer: A24
  • Box office: Over $45 million on a reported $16 million budget
  • Reception: 89% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer; 94% audience score (the Popcornmeter)

Efron on the response (and the grind)

'I'm just overwhelmingly grateful for this whole experience. It's rekindled a fire in me, and really, it just makes me feel incredibly grateful.'

That was Efron talking to Deadline back in January 2024, right after the film connected with critics and audiences. He also went deep on the physical side of the role. The short version: getting that Kevin Von Erich build was brutal. He trained like he was heading into a title match, leaned into the diet and routine, and said he actually enjoys these full-on transformations for a part. He called the dedication fascinating and special, and described the seven-month process like he shed a skin and let Kevin take the wheel. Translation: this was not just gym selfies level work.

Bottom line

If you missed it in theaters, or you are ready to cry into your protein shake again, mark November 19. The Iron Claw lands on Prime Video and is absolutely worth a watch.
