The Closer (Seasons 1-7) – December 22

All seven seasons of The Closer land at once, which is basically Netflix handing you a winter-long police-procedural blanket. The show follows Brenda Johnson, a detective who leads a squad taking on high-profile homicide cases. Her superpower is getting confessions; her kryptonite is ruffling feathers with some of her coworkers. If you like your crime shows efficient and prickly, this is a whole lot of that in one drop.

Sicily Express – December 22

This one is delightfully odd. Two Sicilian nurses, Salvo and Valentino, are living and working in Milan when their lives go sideways thanks to a... dumpster. As in, it somehow zips them back to their families in seconds. It is a premise that sounds like someone dared a writer to mash up a family dramedy with a teleportation gag, and honestly, I am curious.

Goodbye June – December 24

Set at Christmastime, this family drama zeroes in on four siblings whose lives are upended as their ailing mom's health keeps getting worse. Expect the usual holiday emotional shrapnel: simmering resentments, forced togetherness, and the kind of arguments that only happen when everyone is back under the same roof.

Downton Abbey: A New Era – December 24

Downton returns with a split-focus story: the Crawleys head to the South of France to untangle the mystery of a villa unexpectedly left to the dowager countess, while back at the estate, a film crew shows up to shoot a silent movie. It is old-money intrigue meets showbiz chaos, which is a fun tonal whiplash for a series that usually stresses over tea service.
