Young Sheldon Stars Support WGA Strike: "No More Sheldon"
The seventh season's release date becomes less certain as the show's actors join the picketing line.
Young Sheldon's sixth season ended just a few weeks ago, but fans are already looking forward to the seventh instalment of their favourite show.
It should come as no surprise as the spinoff about the childhood of The Big Bang Theory's most iconic character has surpassed the original in terms of how realistic and relatable its main characters are.
Young Sheldon used the characters and plot lines mentioned in TBBT as a starting point and then boldly ventured into top-quality family sitcom territory. Well-written and genuinely funny, it soon won the hearts of numerous fans all over the world, including people who had never seen TBBT or saw it but didn't like it. The bad news is that the beloved show's next season may be at risk of discontinuation because of the ongoing writers' strike in Hollywood.
People started talking about how the WGA strike may impact Young Sheldon long before the sixth season ended. One of the show's executive producers went on record to say there was no way for Young Sheldon to avoid the fallout from the strike.
There are several possible ways in which the strike can impact the series: the seventh season may have to be put off, or the number of episodes may have to be reduced, and, more importantly, Young Sheldon may end up being cancelled after the seventh season because of the writers' strike.
Furthermore, the prequel's stars, Raegan Revord (Missy), Zoe Perry (Mary), and Lance Barber (George), recently joined the strike. Connor Kilpatrick, a writer for Young Sheldon, posted a photo on Instagram featuring the actors and numerous other writers. In the image, captioned 'No more Sheldon "til they shell out",' they are picketing in support of their colleagues on-set.
For instance, Raegan Revord's banner reads:
'We don't just make up all this cool stuff,' which refers to Young Sheldon's talented writers who make the show what it is – quaint, hilarious, and warm.
Given the ongoing WGA strike, the chances of Young Sheldon's seventh season premiering this fall are getting increasingly slim. CBS, the network producing Young Sheldon, has remained optimistic about the show's continuation.
However, the outcome will undoubtedly depend on the strike's duration, even if screenplays for the first episodes are already written.
