Young Sheldon Season 7 Release Date? Fall 2024 At Best
It's not likely to happen anytime soon.
Originally conceived as a companion piece to The Big Bang Theory, a somewhat niche show aimed primarily at die-hard fans, Young Sheldon has quickly become a show in its own right. We learned a lot more about Sheldon's upbringing and reinterpreted many of his anecdotes from TBBT, but now the show is pretty much a stand-alone story about the Cooper family and their surroundings.
And as such, many of us are in no small amount of anticipation, especially considering that Season 7 appears to be the final one. However, Young Sheldon is on indefinite hiatus due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Furthermore, all the signs point to the fact that we shouldn't expect a new season of YS any sooner than the fall of 2024.
Where did we leave off?
An important chapter in Sheldon's life has begun as he has finally traveled to Germany with Mary. Back in Medford, Texas, however, things are less rosy: a devastating tornado has hit the town. But as they say, one must destroy in order to create, and no matter how bad the disaster was, it helped George and Missy reconcile, and Georgie and Mandy's plans for a wedding only intensified.
There is no shortage of events to come, as there are storylines yet to be covered, including Missy's further development, the fuller revelation and conclusion of the Paige arc, and of course George's imminent death. All this just means that the final season should be of high quality and complete, so as not to repeat the mistakes of TBBT.
So not until Fall 2024?
The Hollywood labor disputes are now in their fifth month, and the AMPTP is not even close to agreeing to the vital demands of the industry's workers. The strikes are bound to continue, as not only the quality of life of writers and actors depends on them, but also the future of art that is not exploited.
But it also suggests that the filming of Young Sheldon (the script is probably finished by now, as the season was announced back in 2021) shouldn't be expected anytime soon. If the disputes end in September, YS could offer a mid-season replacement, closer to January. However, the strikes are certainly not going to end anytime soon.
So yes, it's likely that the show will be released in Fall 2024, assuming a three-month summer hiatus. But that's not a bad thing, as the crew will have a lot more time to create a truly compelling and satisfying final season.
