It's amazing how many great TV shows fly under the radar.

But seasoned TV fans know where to find them. If you haven't watched these beauties yet, grab some popcorn and do it before you call yourself a real TV fan:

1. Mrs Davis

It's a simple premise. Betty Gilpin plays a nun who takes on the evils of technology and AI armed only with her faith. Mrs Davis is an omniscient, omnipotent being who doesn't appear on screen, but is the show's villain. It's a mix of sci-fi, drama and comedy that's cleverly written, superbly acted and massively underrated.

2. Mr Inbetween

Based on the 2005 low-budget film The Magician, this is a black comedy about the trials of balancing a normal life as a friend and father with working as a hitman in suburban Sydney. The show contains a mix of violence and humour and is a must-see for modern audiences.

3. Jury Duty

The perfect fusion of reality TV and hidden camera shows. Ronald Gladden is an unsuspecting member of the public who thinks he's taking part in a reality show about jury duty. In truth, the whole thing is a hoax and everyone around him is just playing a role. Interesting, humorous and thoroughly entertaining.

4. How to with John Wilson

A hilarious docu-series in which John Wilson takes to the streets of New York to dish out advice with varying degrees of success. It's a show about people and society, and you have to give it a watch.

5. Black Sails

A swashbuckling prequel to Treasure Island that is definitely not for the faint of heart. It's a gritty portrayal of the so-called Golden Age of piracy that doesn't shy away from the darker side of life at the time.

6. Gomorrah

If you can put up with the subtitles, this is a great show. Not quite an Italian version of The Sopranos, but that's a pretty good way to describe the premise. Set in Naples, the show follows the fictional Savastano crime family. There are plenty of twists, turns and power struggles, and it's one of those great shows where you know every character is vulnerable.

So what are you waiting for? If you haven't watched any or all of these shows, you best get to it.
