You'll Have to Rewatch This Scene to Understand Stranger Things Finale
The writers have dropped some hints about what to expect in Season 5.
The fourth season of Stranger Things, especially its second part, doomed the people of Hawkins to a terrible fate. Monsters from the Upside Down, under Vecna's control, emerged to obliterate the entire world, much to the delight of the series' main antagonist.
Now, the stakes are higher than ever for our heroes, and the joyous reunion in the season's final episode did little to alleviate the sense of dread at such a terrifying menace.
The Duffer brothers have confirmed that the upcoming fifth season will be the last. There is no word yet on when it will be released, as the writing and subsequent production are currently on hold due to the WGA strike and a potential SAG-AFTRA members' strike. However, as fans anxiously wait for news, the writers have suggested that it might be a good time to revisit certain moments from the series.
So far, no details have been released about the upcoming events in the next season, leaving us to speculate based on what has happened in the series so far. However, the writers have dropped some hints on the official Twitter account of their writers' room.
Despite the high praise for the second season, fans rarely talk about it, even though it is crucial to the plot. But with the writers themselves bringing it up, what conclusions can we draw?
Season 2 introduced another child survivor of Benner's experiments in Hawkins' lab, Kali Prasad, aka Eight. She and her gang of punks sought revenge by hunting down and killing those who had ruined not only her childhood but her life in general.
Eleven met Kali in episode 7 when she travelled to Chicago. In addition to teaching El how to channel her anger into power, Kali gave her an important choice: spend the rest of her life seeking vengeance or letting go of her resentment.
El chose the latter and returned to Hawkins, to her newfound family, but it's likely the same choice she'll face in Season 5: either kill Vecna and become no better than he is, or spare him. It's also quite possible that Kali will return as well, as Vecna, the first child from the lab, poses a threat not just to Hawkins but to the entire world.
