Tedros' all-seeing eye sees your criticism of The Idol.

It's been a little over a week since the last episode of The Idol aired, and viewers are still recovering and wondering what it was all about. The plot was so inconsistent and rushed that there's really nothing to take away from the show other than the male gaze and creepy fantasies — oh, and some hatred towards the series' creators, of course.

And it looks like co-creator Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye is well aware of the audiences' harsh criticism for his project. What's more, he's even willing to play around with fans' critical comments, drawing on his character's personality to make people wonder if The Idol's Tedros is really an alter ego of his.

Tedros, The Weeknd's character on The Idol, was a truly despicable figure, whose violent and abusive behavior has made many people hate the show. Also, for those who loved The Weeknd for his music, it seriously hurt the perception of the artist and made them unable to listen to his songs.

'The Idol has permanently altered The Weeknd's image that now I can't even listen to his music,' a Twitter user complained, echoing the sentiment of many others in The Weeknd's fandom.

That tweet was followed by a reply from the singer himself, giving the disappointed user a heavy, judgmental look.

Seeing this, you may be wondering if Abel was posing as himself in the photo or playing his alter ego Tedros. The star seems to be going to the meta level of blurring the lines between the artist and the character, and that's both creative but also ultimately creepy. Also, given that The Weeknd's concert hijinks are very reminiscent of his character's on The Idol, fans just can't help but feel uneasy about the singer's similarity to the heinous person he played.

It's somewhat weird that The Weeknd is not wearing his character's notorious rattail in the photo, but maybe it's Abel's new alter ego, combining his personality with Tedros' (what a nightmare). Should we take this as a foreshadowing of his outfit for future concerts on his After Hours Til Dawn tour?
