Yes, Taylor Swift is in Deadpool 3 After All, But She Plays a Surprising Character
Let the guessing games begin.
Taylor Swift's involvement in Deadpool 3, which is scheduled to open in theaters on May 3, 2024, has been in the rumor mill for months, ever since fans noticed that the teaser for the new installment was filmed in the same location as the singer's All Too Well: The Short Film.
The theory was fleshed out even more when Fandango's Erik Davis Xed(or tweeded as we would have said in the past) about Kevin Feige's fascination with Dazzler, a mutant singer with the ability to turn sound into light.
Who better to play MCU's blonde superstar than real blonde superstar Taylor Swift?
With the new Deadpool movie set to feature a lot of characters from the X-Men franchise, the rumored cameo of Taylor Swift in the role of Dazzler seemed to be almost a done deal even though the movie's creators and Marvel tried to keep it a secret.
Swift's participation in the superhero feature film got further confirmation when a video of the singer joining Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman during the Chiefs vs. Jets game went viral earlier this month.
Surprising Twist
But as it turns out, not everything is that simple. While Swift will most likely have a cameo in Deadpool 3, it's unclear what Dazzler's going to look like.
MyTimeToShineHello, a popular and reliable insider source account with a high accuracy rate, sent fans into a frenzy a few hours ago by dropping a bombshell on X.
‘She's in the movie but she's not playing Dazzler,’ the source wrote, referring to Taylor Swift and the rumors about her appearance in Deadpool 3.
While the news took some of the wind out of their sails, fans didn't miss a beat in concocting new theories about which character the pop star will be portraying in the upcoming movie.
So far, two main theories have been dominating the fan discussions.
Lady Deadpool
Since Deadpool is set in the MCU multiverse and will likely feature different versions of the main characters, as was the case with Spider-Man, one leading new theory is that Swift will play Lady Deadpool, a female counterpart of Deadpool from an alternate reality.
Herself
Ryan Reynolds has previously said he is a big fan of Swift and her work, so the star appearing as herself could be a nice touch and give the franchise a hilarious opportunity to break the fourth wall again.
