Pixar's latest film Elio delivers all the usual Easter eggs — A113, weird aliens, emotional gut-punches — but it also sneaks in something totally new for the studio: a full-blown teaser for their next original film, tucked all the way at the very end of the credits.

Major spoilers ahead!

Yes, Elio has a mid-credits scene — a cute follow-up with Elio using a ham radio to chat with Glordon, thanks to a new friend named Bryce. Classic Pixar-style epilogue stuff.

But once the full credits roll, and the Disney and Pixar logos flash... there's more.

A new scene plays: a lizard sits in a pitch-black room, poking at a phone. It taps a lizard emoji, the phone says "lizard," rinse and repeat. Then it breaks the fourth wall and stares at the audience. It's weird. It's not in Elio. And it's not a blooper reel, despite rumors Pixar was bringing those back.

Instead, it's our first official look at Pixar's next film: Hoppers. The logo pops up, along with a release date: March 6, 2026.

This is the first time Pixar has ever teased their next movie after the credits of the current one — something much more common in, say, Marvel movies. Up to now, Pixar usually kept their previews up front, with trailers or blink-and-you-miss-it cameos. (Ratatouille featured Dug's silhouette two years before Up, and Monsters, Inc. slipped a Nemo toy into Boo's room before Finding Nemo even came out.)

But Elio marks the first time Pixar has gone full post-credits tease for what's next.

So, what is Hoppers?

It's not A Bug's Life 2, despite the name. It's an original story from Daniel Chong — the creator of We Bare Bears — who previously worked on Inside Out and Cars 2 as a story artist. The film centers on a girl named Mabel (voiced by Piper Cruda), who uses experimental tech to "hop" her consciousness into robotic animals to communicate with wildlife. Yes, really.

Also starring Bobby Moynihan and Jon Hamm, the movie blends sci-fi, animal mystery, and just enough weirdness to feel like a classic Pixar swing-for-the-fences concept.

And no, Hoppers isn't connected to Elio — despite what your one Pixar-theory friend might tell you. These aren't part of the same universe. It's just a teaser. Pixar's not building a crossover event with Remy the rat, Sully, and the kid from Luca. Yet.

Pixar likely wasn't ready to drop a full Hoppers trailer just yet — that's probably coming in November, likely attached to Disney's Zootopia 2. But the post-credits sneak peek keeps the curiosity high, and fits Pixar's tradition of mysterious, slightly confusing first reveals.
