At 80, Tom Selleck is eyeing a team-up with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan and says he’s nowhere near retirement, hinting that the right script could pull him back into a big new chapter.

Tom Selleck is 80, not retiring, and apparently itching to saddle up again. He says he wants to team with Taylor Sheridan on something down the road, which makes a lot of sense given Sheridan runs an empire built on tough guys, open skies, and people who look like they know how to handle a horse.

"I wouldn’t say [offers] are pouring in, but maybe some people are thinking of me. A good Western's always on my list. I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again."

— Tom Selleck, speaking with Parade

Why Sheridan is a natural fit for Selleck

Selleck has cowboy DNA. He’s done six Westerns over the years — think 'Quigley Down Under' and 'Crossfire Trail' — and he leans into the country lifestyle in general. Sheridan, meanwhile, has a whole slate of shows where veteran actors thrive. If Selleck wants to ride, Sheridan’s ranch has plenty of horses.

So where would he land? Tulsa King keeps expanding

The Tulsa King universe is already branching out with a spinoff called 'NOLA King' led by Samuel L. Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr. If that’s happening, you can easily imagine another offshoot centered on the Kansas City mafia — a pocket of the franchise viewers know but Sheridan’s writers could still dig into.

And yes, someone floated Dodge City being the historical 'cowboy capital' as a flavor fit here. Different town than Kansas City, obviously, but the broader Midwest/cowboy vibe is right in Selleck’s wheelhouse. If he’s serious about teaming up with Sheridan, pitching a Kansas City angle wouldn’t be a stretch.

The Blue Bloods wrinkle (and a little revenge energy)

After Selleck went public about wanting to work with Sheridan, an insider claimed he’s already in talks to join one of Sheridan’s projects. According to that source, landing something in the Sheridan-verse "would be a great 'in your face' payback to the folks who cut him out of the Blue Bloods spinoff" (via Radar Online). The same chatter says Selleck wasn’t thrilled about being left out after giving so many years to the franchise — and sees a Sheridan collaboration as the perfect way to prove he’s not done yet.

Bottom line

Veteran stars have been thriving in Sheridan’s world, and Selleck brings the exact old-school cowboy presence those shows love. Put him on a horse and you’re halfway there. Where would you plug him in — Yellowstone-adjacent, a Tulsa King corner, or something new entirely?
