It's not all gloom and doom for the finale.

The pressure is on Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan to deliver on his promise and conclude the original series in a way that satisfies fans. The popular new-age western has been marred in drama over the past several months, distracting audiences from the highly anticipated series finale due out later this year.

And, while Yellowstone’s cast and crew are just as much in the dark as fans concerning future episodes (especially thanks to the ongoing writers strike), there are a few indicators regarding the future direction of Yellowstone.

Recently, Piper Perabo - who plays Summer, the romantic interest of John Dutton - sat down with ET's Rachel Smith to discuss the upcoming, final episodes of Yellowstone. The 46-year-old actress had much to dish about including how she anticipates Yellowstone ending.

Sheridan already working on final episodes

The writers strike in Hollywood has created many problems for the TV industry. There are many beloved shows on hold while writers work out their differences and are guaranteed job security moving forward. However, all of this has not affected Yellowstone as Perabo acknowledged that Sheridan was already writing drafts for the remainder of season five prior to the strike.

Be that as it may, Perabo (like other Yellowstone stars) has no idea or indication of how Yellowstone will conclude.

'One of the fun things about working on a Sheridan show is that you really don't know what's gonna happen [next],' Perabo shared with ET. 'I have no idea what's happening next and the whole thing left off on this cliffhanger, so I'm waiting myself.'

Perabo wants Yellowstone to continue, one way or another

The bottom line: Perabo wants to see Yellowstone finish the right way, regardless of what that means for the Duttons. The actress acknowledges that if it were up to her, she would continue the show as is. Notwithstanding, given the current drama between Kevin Costner and Sheridan, she has come to accept that the upcoming episodes will be the last in the original series.

Be that as it may, Perabo guarantees that the Duttons are far from finished. Season five may be wrapping up yet that doesn't mean other spinoffs are not in the works.

It's rumored that Matthew McConaughey will join the cast in an upcoming sequel ready to debut in December 2023. Still, she wants to see the original series end with a proper farewell, especially to the Duttons who worked so hard to preserve the ranch. 'There are many more things to come,' she promised.
