Thousands of writers and actors walked off the job to protest unfair pay from streaming services and the use of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry. As a result, many productions were put on hold, and most of our favorite shows didn't return for the 2023-2024 season, while others were delayed even further.

For example, Young Sheldon, CBS' flagship sitcom, was scheduled to return for its seventh and final season in the fall of 2023, but will instead premiere a month from now with a reduced number of episodes. But smaller shows were also affected. For example, Showtime's hit thriller drama Yellowjackets was in limbo during the strikes, as the writers hadn't even started work on the script for season three before the shutdown.

The Fate of Yellowjackets' Third Season

Fortunately, both the writers' and actors' strikes have been over for quite some time now, which means there has been plenty of time to get a script in place for Season 3 of Yellowjackets. And according to the show's executive producers, filming will begin in May of this year.

'We're going into production back in Vancouver in May,' EP Ashley Lyle shared in a recent interview.

As exciting as this news sounds, it means that season 3 of Yellowjackets will premiere in early 2025 at the earliest. So don't get too happy just yet.

The Plot of Yellowjackets Season 3

Set in 1996, Yellowjackets follows a group of American schoolgirls who were on a flight from New Jersey to Seattle for a national soccer tournament when their plane crashed, leaving the characters stranded in the Canadian wilderness for over a year and a half, struggling to survive. The show also provides a glimpse into the characters' current lives as they are still haunted by the tragedy and its aftermath.

According to the executive producers of Yellowjackets, Season 3 will largely focus on the psychological side of the story while continuing to see the characters struggle to survive. But more interestingly, the third installment will delve into their secrets, which will further captivate the audience.
