The show's cast are optimistic about its return.

As no agreement has been reached, the 2023 WAG-SAG-AFTRA strike continues, with throngs of Hollywood writers and actors rallying in the streets of numerous US cities, demanding fair pay and a limit on AI use within the industry. What began as a writers' strike in May escalated into a dual-union protest after actors joined in July. As a result, many popular projects have been brought to a standstill.

CBS's flagship sitcom, Young Sheldon, is among the many TV shows to have been postponed indefinitely due to the strike. A spin-off from the network's most popular series, The Big Bang Theory, this prequel show follows Sheldon Cooper and his family during his childhood in East Texas.

Over its six-year run, the show has earned the adoration of numerous fans. Now, with it not returning for the upcoming fall season for the first time, many viewers fear it may eventually be cancelled. However, fear not, as Young Sheldon's cast remain optimistic about the show's imminent return.

Iain Armitage, who portrays the titular character on Young Sheldon, celebrated his fifteenth birthday on 15 July, just a day after the actors' guild joined the writers' strike. Since then, the actor has participated in several rallies, advocating for the common cause. Yet, on his birthday, Armitage confidently expressed that Young Sheldon would resume filming in no time.

While this is by no means definitive proof that we will see season 7 of the beloved prequel in the near future, it's a valid confirmation that Young Sheldon has not been cancelled. In fact, the show is so popular with audiences worldwide that it had its seventh season approved back in 2021 – long before the premiere of season 6.

It is indeed unfortunate that the show's seventh and final instalment won't debut this fall, but the good news is that it will be released eventually. After all, what is a year's wait for fans accustomed to two-year gaps between show seasons on Netflix? Besides, Young Sheldon is definitely worth the wait.
