Fans are predicting a bloodbath.

The episode scheduled for release on 2 July is set to be the Idol's finale, and viewers are holding their fingers crossed for an out-of-left-field twist to redeem the controversial show. After all, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who portrays Destiny, insisted in her interview with TheWrap that the finale would feature a 'massive twist'. Naturally, this has prompted fans to take to social media to share their speculations about what it might be.

Here are the top five predictions viewers have shared on Reddit about how the saga of the troubled pop star and her sinister lover might conclude.

1. Someone gets sacrificed

The most prevalent and compelling fan theory is that Jocelyn is not what she seems, and the final episode will include a cult-like sacrifice to enable her to make a triumphant comeback to the stage and reclaim her position at the top. The only question is who's going to get sacrificed, and that's where fan theories diverge. Some suggest it could be Leia or Xander. Others believe that Tedros might suggest that Jocelyn sacrifice Dyanne to kill two birds with one stone: perform a ritual and eliminate a rival.

2. Jocelyn sacrifices Tedros

The most intriguing fan theory is that Tedros is the one who'll be sacrificed. That would clear up a lot of things like the way Jocelyn and Tedros first met and the way she invited him back to her mansion after only knowing him for one night, and the way her crew were putting up with the corrupt nightclub owner. Some viewers believe they have been grooming Tedros all along. It would be a twist of all twists if it turned out that Tedros isn't the first person Jocelyn has sacrificed and that she actually sacrificed her own mother.

3. Jocelyn kills

Even if there is no sacrifice, fans believe that Jocelyn murdering someone is an inevitability at this point. After all, there have been hints throughout the show, from the homage to Basic Instinct to the lyrics of World Class Sinner that go:

‘Lookin' for something sweet

When it comes time to eat (uh)

You better start to run when I call’

The most popular theory is that Jocelyn will kill Tedros, turning the predator into the prey.

4. Jocelyn's crew lets Tedros take down the singer

A less violent but darker theory suggests that Jocelyn's crew will eventually ally with Tedros, allowing him to manipulate Jocelyn as much as he wishes once he extracts successful performances from her. After all, the show is about pop culture, which is ruthless and prioritises profit above all else. Even Jocelyn's handlers, who are supposed to protect her interests, can throw her to the dogs if they smell hard cash: money talks, loyalty walks.

5. The Idol ends up being a huge promo campaign

The final theory is the most entertaining one. Some fans have speculated that the finale will disclose that the entire show is merely another music video for The Weeknd's latest album. Although absurd, it is not entirely implausible given all the off-screen drama following The Idol's premiere.
