The show's writers have given definitive answers.

Ted Lasso's season three finale came out only a few days ago. We’re told it was also the end of the show. Since its debut in 2020, Ted Lasso has enjoyed tremendous popularity around the world and earned numerous Emmys across various categories, including two wins for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Understandably, fans are heartbroken that Ted Lasso is now over and done with. The series, known for its powerful message of triumphant positivity, has become integral to many viewers' lives, so they want it to never end. The show's creators and cast members have also shared their perspectives on its possible continuation.

Is Ted Lasso really over? In 2021, the show's ultimate creator and actor behind the titular character, Jason Sudeikis, said it was always conceived as a trilogy. More recently, Jason offered a more definitive answer while being interviewed on the Fly on the Wall podcast.

'This story is done. It sounds like such a political answer, but it's the truth. We only conceived these three [seasons], then this thing became this big ol' thing,' Sudeikis said.

In 2022, Brett Goldstein, a writer for Ted Lasso and the actor behind Roy Kent, also stated there were no plans to extend the series beyond its third season. Consequently, season 3 was crafted with the understanding that it would serve as the final chapter of this particular tale.

'We are writing it like that. It was planned as three,' he confirmed.

Adding weight to this is the official farewell video released by Apple TV+ on their YouTube channel, which showcases the cast of Ted Lasso bidding farewell to the series. Thus, it seems Ted Lasso is really over.

However, this does not necessarily mean the end of the Ted Lasso universe. There remains an abundance of potential for spinoffs. Jason Sudeikis himself expressed interest in creating a crime comedy-drama featuring Rebecca Welton and Keeley Jones as protagonists.

'Literally, take any two of them [the characters] and kind of like [mix them up], it’s fun to think about," he quipped. "So, I mean, I would love for the first show to have six different spinoffs.'

There is one major upside to Ted Lasso's conclusion: you can now stream the whole series on Apple TV+ and binge on it to your heart’s content.
