Will Tell Me Lies Get a Season 4? Grace Van Patten Weighs In
As Tell Me Lies signs off with Season 3 on Hulu, Grace Van Patten weighs the show’s future — from the odds of a Season 4 to whether Lucy and the rest could return after the finale.
Hulu's Tell Me Lies just wrapped Season 3, and if you were hoping for a late-breaking renewal... yeah, about that. The star is open to more, the creator says the story is complete, and the finale doubles down on the show's favorite bad habit in a way that actually feels like growth.
So, is a Season 4 on the table?
Grace Van Patten, who plays Lucy, says she could see this story stopping here or spinning back up someday. She sounds genuinely satisfied either way:
"I think it could go either way. I hope people like the ending. I'm really happy with it. I love that it really could go either way. I think it's a great ending if it's done here. If it decides to go on, I don't know what that looks like, but I'd be curious to find out."
Translation: the door is cracked, but no one is reaching for the light switch right now.
The official word: this was the finale
Series creator Meaghan Oppenheimer called her shot before the episode aired and labeled it the end. She also made it clear this is the finish they planned from the start:
"After three amazing seasons of Tell Me Lies, tonight's episode will be the series finale. This was always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it."
She added that the huge response to Season 3 had them briefly considering more, but they decided the story had reached a natural conclusion. Her north star here: protect the quality of the show and deliver the best possible experience, not just keep it alive because they can.
Where Lucy and Stephen land
Van Patten loves how the final stretch plays out for Lucy and Stephen, specifically the last gut-punch that, at this point, feels almost ritual. The twist is Lucy's reaction: instead of getting wrecked, she treats it like a sign and chooses herself. In other words, the spiral finally stops spinning.
Also, in case the subtext was unclear, Van Patten does not mince words about Stephen. She calls him "a supervillain."
Bottom line: Tell Me Lies ended on its own terms. If the cast and creatives ever get the itch to revisit Lucy and the gang, there's room. For now, the book is closed and, honestly, that feels right.
