The beloved singer has moved to NYC for a reason.

It's been four years since The Kelly Clarkson Show premiered, and the program's now in its fifth season. The first four seasons were produced in Los Angeles, like many programs, except for a few episodes of season 3 filmed in New York. Now, however, Clarkson has relocated the production to the Big Apple permanently.

Since Clarkson is also a fan-favorite coach on The Voice, having appeared in seven of the twenty-four seasons of the LA-based singing competition, fans are naturally curious about whether she'll return to the iconic revolving chair now that she's based in New York. Unfortunately, the singer has already said her goodbyes to The Voice and doesn't plan to return to her coaching role on that show.

The Voice 23 Was Clarkson's Swan Song

As many know, Kelly Clarkson went through a challenging divorce from her ex-husband, Narvel Blackstock, between 2020 and 2022. While the details of the proceedings were kept private, it was evident it was a big mess, which Clarkson alluded to in her rendition of Gayle's abcdefu during season 4 of The Kelly Clarkson Show.

During the toughest stages of her divorce, Clarkson was filming season 23 of The Voice. According to the singer, she had to mask her emotions for the sake of the show, which took a toll on her emotionally.

'Full disclosure, I put on a smile a lot of those times because I was struggling a lot in my personal life,' Clarkson said in an interview about her last season on The Voice. 'I've learned a lot about what I'm capable of handling, and also what you should not handle. That was me saying "bye" to The Voice and having this big move. I love that [show] family, but I was like, "I'm struggling. I can't smile anymore. I don't feel like smiling."'

Kelly Clarkson: New York Chapter

While the decision to move was nerve-wracking for Clarkson, she felt a fresh start was an absolute must. New York seemed like a perfect choice as it allowed her to both work and be nearer to her family in North Carolina. Plus, now that her namesake show is being filmed in New York, she's excited about adding some new elements to it.

'We're definitely going to be on the streets and doing different things that we weren't capable of in LA because it's so spread out,' Clarkson said about the fifth season of her show.

We're thrilled for Kelly Clarkson as she begins this new chapter in NYC. As for The Voice, the show will never be the same without its most cherished coach, but like any show, it must go on.
