Will Jennifer Esposito Return in Blue Bloods Season 14 After S13 Finale Comeback?
Fans are not sure if the actress has returned to the show for good.
It's hard to believe Blue Bloods has been on the air for 13 years, as the saga of the Reagan family still feels as fresh as it did in 2010 when the show premiered on CBS. However, while the series' storylines still feel compelling and exciting, there is one thing that makes it clear how old the show really is — the amount of great characters who left the story for various reasons over the past decade.
Fortunately, some of these beloved characters are coming back. The Season 13 finale reintroduced one of the most popular characters from the show's first three seasons — Detective Jackie Curatola.
Played by Jennifer Esposito, Curatola was the partner of Danny Reagan at the beginning of Blue Bloods. Fans loved the dynamic between the two, calling Dannie and Jackie one of the most exciting pairings on any police procedural.
However, Jennifer Esposito was apparently struggling with her demanding role as she was also battling celiac disease at the time. Reportedly, she asked the producers to allow her to work fewer hours, but they decided to get rid of her character altogether and fired the actress.
After such an ugly firing, fans were sure that Esposito would never set foot on the Blue Blood set ever again, so her return in the Season 13 finale came as a total shock to many viewers. It looks like Esposito and CBS have managed to settle their differences, but does this mean the actress will also return to the show in the next season?
Unfortunately, most people are sure that Esposito will not stick around for the upcoming Season 14. Even though the actress is not busy with any other projects right now and nothing is stopping her from returning to Blue Bloods' main cast, it's been a really long time since she and her character departed from the show, so it wouldn't make sense for Jackie to reappear as a significant character in Season 14.
Neither CBS nor the actress have revealed anything about Curatola's future on the show. Luckily, we'll soon find out for ourselves if Jennifer Esposito's comeback was for good, as Season 14 premieres in the fall of 2023.
