Hopefully, it is not on the horizon yet.

Over its six-year run, Young Sheldon has been rife with inconsistencies. The show has often contradicted its own plot, not to mention the numerous glaring deviations from The Big Bang Theory's canon.

A recent example is the sidestepping of the plotline about George cheating on Mary.

In The Big Bang Theory, the infidelity supposedly took place during Sheldon's thirteenth spring break when he returned home from university and discovered his father with another woman. Given this discrepancy, will the spinoff align with the original plot regarding George's sudden death? More critically, will George be leaving the gig this season?

The short answer is no; George will not have died by the end of Young Sheldon's sixth season. This doesn't rule out the possibility of him dying later in the series. Let's delve into why Sheldon's father's untimely passing doesn't happen in the upcoming twenty-first and twenty-second episodes of the prequel!

First, the tragic event is not hinted at in the teaser for the hour-long season 6 finale. So far, we know that Sheldon and Mary are heading to Germany for the summer while the rest of the family carries on with their daily lives as usual.

More significantly, depicting George's death at this stage would be incorrect. According to Georgie in The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon's father passes away when Sheldon is fourteen. In Young Sheldon's sixth season, Sheldon is not there yet. Moreover, Georgie revealed that Sheldon goes to CalTech after their father's death. However, Sheldon cannot yet head there, as he first needs to improve his academic portfolio - which is the primary reason for his trip to Germany.

Perhaps this hints at what we can expect from Young Sheldon's seventh season, which has already been announced as the final one. George's death could provide a fitting explanation for the series' conclusion. His demise would naturally conclude the Coopers' story, albeit on a sombre note, especially since Sheldon's father is arguably the most endearing and relatable character on the show.

In the meantime, we're looking forward to seeing what surprises Season 6's finale will spring on us when it comes out on CBS on 18 May.
