Sarah has been putting off motherhood until she’s 100 percent sure she’s ready for it. She says that even though she loves kids she is very impulsive and that she would probably instantly regret it if she were to have kids. So what she did was she had some of her eggs frozen just in case. Sarah turned 47 last December.

Renee Zellweger

At age 53, Renee Zellweger has only been married once, to musician Kenny Chesney, and the marriage only lasted four months. Renee says she never wanted to be a mother either at 19 or at 25, adding that she accepts things as they are and that she just wants to be independent and capable of taking care of herself.

She is getting along handsomely with her current boyfriend Ant Anstead’s three-year-old son, though, and seems to enjoy taking care of him.

Kylie Minogue

Despite having achieved great success as a pop performer, Kylie doesn’t think she has what it takes to be a mother. She says she does wonder from time to time about what motherhood would be like, but she’s cutting her own path through life and has a hard time even imagining getting pregnant. She is not at all sure if she would even be able to handle it. Then again, she does admit that there is a tinge of regret but she tries not to dwell on it. Kylie is totally cool with raising her significant other’s kids, though, saying that she can definitely see herself as a stepmom if she were to meet someone who already has kids.

Helen Mirren

At age 77, Helen says motherhood was never on the cards for her. She says she kept waiting for it to happen but it never did. But then again she never cared what people thought and never felt the need to have a baby. She says she’s never felt like she was missing out by not having a child as she’s always put her work first.

Oprah Winfrey

Famous TV host Oprah Winfrey got knocked up at age 14, but her baby died soon after birth. Oprah then resolved to not have children ever again. Instead she founded a boarding school for girls, which she regards as the most important project of her life.

Oprah says she’s never regretted not having children because she’s been able to make up for it in the best possible way through her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

Kim Cattrall

The 66-year-old Sex and the City star Kim Cattral admits her decision not to have kids had to do with her work on the popular series. After marrying her third husband, Mark Levinson, Kim gave some thought to using IVF to get pregnant but ultimately decided against it because of her super busy work schedule. It was at that point that she for the first time figured that maybe she was never going to have kids and she realised she was totally cool with it.

Alison Brie

The 40-year-old Alison Brie says she doesn’t want to have kids because of how much time raising them would take. She says she feels great about her decision because it means she doesn’t have to worry about when she should get pregnant and how that would interfere with her career. She does concede that having kids could be great but thinks it would be too stressful, adding that given how much she stresses out over her cats, if she had kids she would probably go completely insane worrying about them all the time.

Allison Janney
