Why November 14 Will Leave Smile Fans Frowning
After two nerve-shredding Smile chapters, Parker Finn’s 2022 breakout is vanishing from Netflix this month—watch it now before it disappears.
If you were planning a Smile rewatch on Netflix, the clock is very much ticking. Parker Finn’s hit 2022 horror is about to vanish from the service, and yes, they’ve made it official.
Smile is leaving Netflix
Netflix Life spotted a removal notice confirming that Smile drops off Netflix on Friday, November 14. Translation: you can stream it through November 13, and then it’s gone. Kind of fitting for a movie about a curse that doesn’t stick around on your terms.
The film is written and directed by Parker Finn and stars Sosie Bacon, with Caitlin Stasey, Kal Penn, and Kevin Keppy in the mix. Finn followed it with a sequel, and both movies punch well above their weight in the creepy, psychological-horror department.
Where to watch it next
- Netflix: available until November 13, gone November 14
- Amazon Prime Video: Smile (2022) is available to rent for $3.99; Smile 2 is also on Prime Video
- Paramount+: Smile (2022) is streaming here, and Smile 2 is on Paramount+ as well
Quick rundown on the movies
Smile (released September 30, 2022) is the one that broke out, centered on Bacon’s unraveling therapist and a curse that spreads via horrific encounters and, well, that smile. Over on the scorecards, it sits at 6.5/10 on IMDb and 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Smile 2 landed on October 18, 2024, runs 2 hours and 12 minutes, and digs into threads the first movie left dangling. The sequel features Naomi Scott and Ray Nicholson among the new faces, and it’s fared slightly better with 6.7/10 on IMDb and 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.
So, is Smile 3 happening?
Possibly. A listing suggested a 2025 production start, according to Film Stories. Box office-wise, Smile 2 reportedly came in about $70 million under internal hopes, but it still turned a profit — which usually keeps the lights on for another round. Finn’s also not shy about being game for it, telling Collider back in October 2024:
"Well, I will say this, I think there are a lot of interesting roads that any future Smile could go down. For me, I love all the stuff that goes bump in the night, and all the really frightening things of the big concept of Smile and the Smiler."
If you’ve seen Smile 2, you know it leaves the door cracked for more.
Bottom line
If you want one last Netflix watch, you’ve got until November 13. After that, move over to Paramount+ or rent on Amazon. Consider this your friendly reminder to schedule your nightmare fuel accordingly.
