Why Fans Think Justin & Hailey Bieber Will Get Divorced on September 13
The crazy conspiracy theory might not be so far-fetched after all.
Over the past few days, social media has been abuzz with photos of an angel (or perhaps a daemon) in heels, with a mischievous figure in a hoodie trailing behind her on their way to Krispy Kreme. Yes, we're talking about Hailey Bieber and her husband. Naturally, we're not being serious; everyone can recognise Justin. But do we really understand what's going on between the two?
'They're the only couple that never has any drama,' a user commented on X (previously known as Twitter). However, that might not be the full story. In fact, there's a theory making rounds online suggesting the couple might soon divorce. Let's take a closer look.
The notion that Justin and Hailey's union stems more from necessity than love isn't new. It's a sentiment frequently echoed by Selena Gomez fans who haven't quite come to terms with the reality of Gomez and Bieber no longer being together. However, a new theory suggesting Justin might soon seek US citizenship seems plausible.
It was put forward by prominent TikTok conspiracy theorists.

Marriage of Convenience
According to the video, the couple might divorce on September 13, 2023. Why this specific date? It marks their fifth wedding anniversary. Justin's US work visa will have expired five years before this date (for context, Justin is Canadian). In March 2018, rumours swirled that Bieber had proposed to then-girlfriend Selena Gomez. However, things fell apart, and the two ended things that March. A few months later, Justin married Hailey Baldwin.
'The most common path to U.S. citizenship through naturalisation is being a lawful permanent resident (LPR) for at least five years,' states the official website of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
In 2014, Justin lost his eligibility to renew his visa due to charges related to drunk driving, driving with an expired licence, and resisting arrest. He also risked forfeiting rights to all the songs he'd recorded in the US. Thus, marrying Halley made perfect sense for Bieber as a way to extend his US stay and safeguard his assets.
Adding fuel to this theory is DJ Khaled and Drake's music video for Popstar, with Bieber as the central character. Lyrics from the song include the lines, 'Look, Ariana, Selena, my Visa / It can take as many charges as it needs to, my girl.'
In other words, some speculate that upon hitting the five-year mark in their marriage this month, the couple might divorce, paving the way for Justin to independently seek US citizenship. However, remember, this is merely a conspiracy theory and is to be taken with a healthy grain of salt.
