Who Is Sunny Deol's Wife Pooja? Here's What She Looks Like in Real Life

Sunny Deol is a tremendously successful actor in contemporary Hindi cinema. The hero of numerous Indian action films, Sunny has played over a hundred roles, winning two Filmfare Awards and two National Film Awards and cementing his status as one of the most popular and well-paid actors in Bollywood.

In addition to his fame as an actor, Sunny also gained some notoriety in the 1980s because of his extramarital affairs with famous actresses. Despite all the controversy, however, he is still married to his wife, Pooja, and the two apparently have no intention of ending their marriage.

Meet Pooja Deol — Sunny's wife of almost 40 years and mother of his two sons, Karan and Rajveer.

Pooja Deol, born Lynda Mahal, was born on September 21, 1957, in London to Krishan Dev Mahal, a Sikh, and his wife June Sarah Mahal, a Briton. According to family legend, young Lynda was spotted by Sunny's grandfather, who decided that she and his grandson would marry as soon as they came of age.

However, the couple married much later, in 1984 — a year after Sunny's career debut. Their marriage was kept secret, and only family members knew about it before photographs of the couple were published.

Because Sunny and Pooja are rarely seen together in public, people are wondering if the couple is in fact close these days. Sunny Deol has been known to have affairs with several of his co-stars, including Amrita Singh and Dimple Kapadia, so many fans fully expected Pooja to become vocal about her husband's infidelity and possibly even file for a divorce.

But it seems that the relationship between Sunny and Pooja is still going strong, as both looked very happy while attending their son Karan's wedding earlier this month. Evidently, the actor and his wife are not getting divorced despite Sunny's infidelity accusations.

We can also speculate as to why Pooja decided to keep silent about her husband's extramarital affairs. For one, she may just be fine with Sunny following in his father's footsteps — Dharmendra, also an acclaimed Indian actor, famously found his second wife, actress Hema Malini, before he divorced Sunny's mother.

Also, Pooja Deol is now a member of parliament for the conservative Bharatiya Janata Party, so she may be unwilling to divorce her husband for fear of ruining her public image.
