Many people have no idea that the actor has a sister.

As Prince Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, Joel in The Last of Us and Din Djarin in The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal has a history of playing characters who look out for others. And it seems from a recent article with Esquire that he's quite protective of his little sister, Lux.

Although he also questioned whether she needs his protection.

Pablo is one of four siblings, with Lux being his junior by 17 years. In 1976, the family moved to California after they were exiled from Chile following a coup that had taken place in 1973. Pablo's mother, Verónica Pascal had family connections to Andrés Pascal Allende who was one of the leaders of the Chilean Revolutionary Left Movement. Pablo, the second of four siblings, was just 9 months old at the time.

Lux – who is an actor and transgender activist – was born in California but moved to Chile as a baby. Lux's birth name was Lucas and in 2021 she announced that she is a transgender woman.

Her career to date has seen her take on a series of roles on stage and screen. In 2014, she appeared in Pablo Rotemberg's play La Noche Obstinada and also made her TV debut as Axel Miller in Canal 13's series Los 80.

She made her film debut in 2016 and starred alongside older brother Pedro in the Netflix series Narcos in which Pablo played Javier F. Peña (born 1958) an American former Drug Enforcement Administration agent who was part of the investigation into Pablo Escobar's drug cartel, and Lux played Elijah.

She's also appeared in several Chilean films.

Pablo's recent interview with Esquire happened to coincide with the Florida State Senate proposing a ban on gender-affirming care for minors, and the government's Education Department announcing plans to amend sports eligibility rules to allow high schools and colleges to limit transgender participation.

Quizzed about his thoughts on the subject, given Lux's transgender status, Pablo said he 'wouldn't want to speak on her behalf,' but described his youngest sister as 'one of the most powerful people and personalities I've ever known.'

Despite the shielding nature of some of his characters and a love for his sister (and the rest of his family) that is evident in his interview, he went on to say his 'protective side is lethal' but that he needs Lux more than she needs him.
