Some members of the royal family will be skipping the coronation after all.

On May 6, the world will witness the coronation of King Charles III, the first such event in British history in more than 50 years. The coronation will be an event hard to miss, as many celebrities, including Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, will be in attendance, joining various royals from around the world.

But it seems that some of the closest members of the royal family will not be joining Charles for his incredibly important milestone, and the reasons vary quite a bit.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Prince Harry will travel to his father's coronation alone, without his wife Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, and his children — Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who will stay at home in LA, as the young prince's fourth birthday overlaps with the event.

Though the explanation for them skipping the coronation is pretty reasonable, people can't help but think that Meghan decided not to attend the ceremony on her own. While the Duchess is in full control of her life, fans are accusing her of depriving her children of the chance to see their grandfather become a king.

But the Duchess of Sussex and her kids won't be the only royals skipping the coronation, as it has been revealed that Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, has not been invited to the event at all, much to the surprise of royal followers.

Although Sarah and Prince Andrew divorced in 1996, she is still a close friend of the family and even spent both Christmas and Easter with them this year. So, King's decision not to invite her seems a bit bizarre to many fans. That being said, the idea of not inviting Sarah seems understandable, as she was the one who divorced Prince Andrew, not the other way around.

However, even without Meghan and Sarah attending the coronation, fans are expecting plenty of drama from the upcoming event. All eyes are now turned to Prince Harry and Prince William, whose meeting at their father's crowning ceremony will be the first since Harry's controversial memoir Spare was published earlier this year.
