Chenford, aka Lucy Chen and Tim Bradford, became The Rookie's fan-favorite pairing for a reason. Their electric chemistry, push-and-pull dynamic, and amazing interactions have all played a part in the characters' growth from a teacher/student duo to slow-burning ship to heart-pounding couple.

Now that Lucy and Tim have finally given in to their feelings and gotten together, The Rookie's creators have many options for how to handle their relationship. We've collected fans' five biggest predictions about what may happen to the couple in Season 6, which will hopefully be released sometime this year.

Note that much of this is wishful thinking, based on the idea that the show needs to spice things up for Chenford.

Lucy fails the detective exam

The most likely storyline in Season 6 is that Lucy takes the detective exam but fails because the way she pulled strings to get Tim into Metro doesn't sit well with all detectives. Of course, she is mature about it and accepts the consequences of her actions with dignity. Tim, on the other hand, feels guilty about the whole thing, which is sure to sour their relationship.

Lucy gets a chance to redeem herself

After failing her exam, Lucy gets an offer to do an undercover operation that, if successful, will make her a detective. The assignment requires her to go away for a long time and have no contact with home. This puts her on the fence, and she goes to discuss it with Tim.

Tim and Lucy argue about her career

Since Tim is already feeling guilty about Lucy's exam, he tries to persuade her to go on the assignment so that she doesn't ruin her career for the sake of their relationship. Lucy finds his words hurtful and feels rejected. The two have a fight, and Lucy goes on her mission before they make up.

Someone's life is in danger, and Chenford reconcile

Left without Lucy, Tim rethinks their relationship and understands how important she is to him. He reverts to his tough and stern personality that shines through in his work. Finally, a police operation with Metro leads Tim to the place where Lucy is undercover, and one of them gets into a life-threatening situation. After all goes well, Tim and Lucy talk and make up.

After the drama is finally over, Lucy and Tim's relationship becomes stronger, which leads them to the next logical step — moving in together. Even if such a sweet development is a long way off, we can still dream, right?
