However, The Office continued for two more seasons after Carell's departure. And there were plenty of new storylines that didn't involve him at all. Actress Angela Kinsey, who played another Angela on the show, revealed her favorites in an interview with Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
It may sound selfish, but the actress named two storylines that are related to her character and to each other. But the storylines are actually good for her character development and the overall dynamic of the show, so Kinsey's vanity can be excused.
The actress' favorite post-Carell storyline revolved around her love triangle with her husband and another office worker, Oscar Martinez. The reason for this is very different from what you might think.
Angela Kinsey and Oscar Nunez, who portrayed the character of the same name, were good friends long before The Office, the actress revealed.
Their long-standing friendship made their characters' love triangle a fun experience for her. "Getting to do those scenes with Oscar was the best," she said.
Oscar suspected Angela's husband, Senator Robin Lipton, of being gay and confronted him about it. This led to a secret affair between them that ended when Lipton came out at a public conference. The event was the bridge to Angela Kinsey's other favorite storyline.
Her husband's outing rekindled Angela's on-and-off relationship with Dwight Schrute. "Obviously, some really great things happened for my character and Dwight toward the end of the show," Kinsey said. Among them, of course, was their growing closeness in dealing with the gay-husband situation, Dwight's belief that Angela's baby is his, and their subsequent marriage.
