What Barbie Ferreira Has Been Up to Since Controversial Euphoria Exit?
Fans were devastated by the actress' leaving the show. What is she up to now?
Kat Hernandez was one of the most vibrant characters on HBO's Euphoria, a show that in itself has become a true pop culture phenomenon.
Kat's personality, confidence, and desire to challenge the standards of beauty made her an endearing presence on the show, and many viewers fell in love with the talented actress who portrayed her, Barbie Ferreira.
Much to the chagrin of fans, Ferreira decided to leave the project in August 2022, sparking many rumors about her conflict with the series' creator, Sam Levinson.
Reportedly, Barbie left the set several times during the filming of the show, and while these rumors have not been confirmed, the star herself admitted that there was a disagreement between her and the show's creators. Most likely, the conflict concerned her character, and both parties agreed that Ferreira's Kat simply didn't have room to grow further in the show.
'I think there were places she could have gone. I just don't think it would have fit into the show. I don't know if it was going to do her justice, and I think both parties knew that I really wanted to be able to not be the fat best friend. I don't want to play that, and I think they didn't want that either,' Ferreira told the Armchair Expert podcast in April 2023.
In March 2022, while HBO was still airing the second season of Euphoria, Barbie took a vacation with her family in Brazil. The actress is of Brazilian descent, and it looks like she used the trip to allow herself some time to reconnect with her roots and find the strength to move forward after ending her Euphoria gig.
Now, Barbie Ferreira's career seems to be going up, as the star continues to model and work in movies. She was the face of the April issue of Vogue Brazil and appeared on the cover of Elle Canada in May.
In 2020, Ferreira starred opposite Haley Lu Richardson in the road movie Unpregnant. This year, the actress is involved in two horror movies — House of Spoils with Ariana DeBose and a remake of 1978's Faces of Death, in which Ferreira will appear alongside Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery.
