Fans love Jenny, but it's highly doubtful she'll even get nominated.

The Idol's been somewhat controversial because of its dubious subject matter and unapologetically explicit content.

Given the news that the current season will only comprise five episodes instead of the originally announced six, many are wondering if HBO has pulled the plug on the whole series.

While the show keeps getting flak from viewers, some media outlets have actually been praising it, even going as far as to suggest that some cast members deserve prestigious awards. Apparently, this is especially true of Blackpink's Jennie, who's been tipped to win an Emmy. There are a lot of doubts, however, as to whether she can even get nominated for the prestigious award, let alone win it.

It's Jennie's first acting role and let's face it, few people have won big awards for their first ever role. But many fans point out that it's more than that. The odds are negligible because of how small her role is on the show, even though she featured prominently in the promotional materials for the series before it came out.

'She has one line in the first episode, no lines in the second episode, and basically cameos in episode three,' a Redditor explains.

Jennie plays a minor supporting character. It's a solid gig for the singer to try her hand at acting in. We are sure she'll get better roles in the future. However, The Idol has plenty of other actors with much more screen time and charisma who definitely deserve an award for the best supporting role.

'There are so many supporting actors way better than her: Suzanna Son, Hank Azaria, Rachel Sennott and Da'Vine Joy Randolph. Jennie has zero chance to get nominated compared to them. Her part is too small to show anything even if she had talent as an actress,' another Redditor said.

Again, it's not at all clear if the show will get nominated at all! But never say never. Someone mentioned that Game of Thrones Season 8 won as many as 10 Emmys, despite all the flak it got from fans. But it's worth remembering that GoT, unlike The Idol, had established itself as a major series long before that happened.

It's worth noting under the Emmy Awards submission rules, the creators can only submit the show for the 76th ceremony, and not this year's event. So it's possible that Jennie could still steal the show, the finale or even next season, if it comes out before 31 May 2024 (and if it comes out at all).

Meanwhile, the fifth and final episode of The Idol will be released on 2 July.
