Wednesday Fan's Tattoo Fail Broke the Internet
What on earth were they thinking?
Ah, a tattoo. The perfect way to immortalise your favourite show or character. Only, if you’re going to do it, make sure you pick a decent tattoo artist – not like the Wednesday fan who ended up with a tattoo that looked more like a mutant Samuel L Jackson or a Bratz version of Ertha Kitt than their favourite member of the Addams family.
And while the ‘dude’ in question may not have been overly enamoured with the artwork they were left sporting on their arm, the internet had a field day. A dodgy tattoo always has the potential to go viral once it’s unleashed onto the web – and this one really took off.
Suddenly social media was awash with fans of Wednesday – and no doubt plenty of people who have never even seen the show – who were keen to share the image of what must go down as one of the biggest tattoo fails in the history of the internet.
Netflix’s sudden hit
Wednesday has become one of the most streamed shows on Netflix and garnered a huge number of fans who just love chatting about it online with fellow enthusiasts. But it may well be the case that this particular fan wasn’t impressed with their tattoo being bandied about as a source of amusement for fans, non-fans and anybody else who just likes to jump on a viral fad and have their say.
In fact, the tattoo was so bad that if you looked at it without knowing who it was supposed to be, it's highly unlikely you'd pick out Jenna Ortega's eponymous character as the subject of the artwork (and yes, I use that term loosely).
At least Wednesday is coming back
Season 2 was greenlit earlier this year and is sure to set the Internet ablaze when it arrives. And who knows, maybe it will unleash the photo of that awful tattoo once again, giving it a second wind of viral circulation that will serve as yet another reminder of why you should never try to save money on a permanent piece of artwork that's going to be inked on your arm for all eternity.
There's no confirmed date for the new season, but it's expected to be released in mid to late 2024. Whether we get another viral moment like the dance from season 1 remains to be seen. But if the show itself doesn't deliver a viral moment, perhaps this tattoo failure will.
