Fans pushing for more Wayward have an ally: star Alyvia Alyn Lind says she’s eager to return as Leila if a second season materializes—despite the mystery thriller’s limited-series label.

Still thinking about that Wayward finale? Same. Fans have been loudly campaigning for Netflix to keep the story going, and Alyvia Alyn Lind is right there with you. If Season 2 happens, Leila’s ready to clock back in.

Where things stand

Wayward was built as an eight-episode mystery thriller and marketed like a limited series. But the show leaves a lot dangling, which is why the calls for more aren’t slowing down. Biggest example: Leila. She plans to bolt Tall Pines with Abbie, then freezes at the finish line, remembers what’s waiting at home, and turns back to the academy. It’s a sharp left turn that begs for follow-up.

As for an official renewal? Nothing yet. Netflix hasn’t said a word.

What Alyvia Alyn Lind is saying

In a chat with The Direct’s Russ Milheim, the 18-year-old, who plays the complicated Leila, basically said she’s in if Netflix is. She hasn’t heard anything about a pickup and, like most actors, isn’t being looped into the big-picture plotting. She did make it very clear she loves the cast and crew and wants to see where creator Mae takes things.

"I have, again, not heard anything. They don’t tell me anything. If there’s anything in the future I want to be involved in, I’d love to. I think this story is so important, and I think that I would love to see where Mae sees it going... This cast and crew and everybody involved in making this project are just so incredible. So again, anything with this involves, sign me up."

If we do get a Season 2, where could Leila go?

  • Lean into the dark side: Lind floated the idea of Leila growing into an Evelyn-style ruler — basically, a full-on tyrant.
  • Switch lanes and echo Stacey: a different kind of transformation that mirrors another power player in the story.
  • Or take a Laura-esque route: a version of Leila that tracks closer to Laura’s path.

Bottom line: nothing is official, but if Netflix pulls the trigger, Alyvia Alyn Lind wants back in. Given that ending, so do a lot of us.
