Watch Krypton Crumble in the New Supergirl Trailer — and Meet Puppy Krypto
Krypto steals the show in a new Supergirl teaser that dropped during the Puppy Bowl, as James Gunn serves up a first look at the superdog’s origins and his meet-cute with Kara Zor-El. The footage also teases the fall of Krypton ahead of the film’s summer release.
DC used the Puppy Bowl to sneak in a fresh Supergirl tease, and the dog absolutely stole the show. Yes, Krypto is front and center, and the footage makes a strong case that this very good boy is about to run away with the movie.
Krypto takes the spotlight
The new Supergirl (2026) teaser zeroes in on Kara Zor-El and Krypto before the sky literally falls. We see Kara (Milly Alcock) first meet a puppy Krypto during a Kryptonian ceremony, then get hit with the planet’s collapse. From there, it pivots into a survival bond story: Alcock calls it an 'unbreakable bond,' and the footage backs it up with small, tactile beats — Krypto knocking a bottle across a record player, dodging sparks like it’s nothing — plus quick hits of Kara throwing down in a bar fight. It’s a tighter, dog-forward extension of the first trailer with some new connective tissue.
The spot also makes clear what drives the plot: Kara and Ruthye (Eve Ridley) heading out on a vengeance-charged mission that sets the film’s course.
'Best boy alert! Keep watching #PuppyBowl to see which player wins the Krypto Superhero Play inspired by this super pup! #Supergirl lands in theaters June 26.'
The comic DNA (with a twist)
This one adapts Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, where a poisoned arrow puts Krypto in the crosshairs and Kara takes the fight to the stars. The movie keeps the ruthlessness but mixes in some deep-cut choices: Matthias Schoenaerts is playing Krem of the Yellow Hills, and Jason Momoa is Lobo — a character who was not in the original comic but did come from King’s early concept work. It’s a swing, and it fits the trailer’s splash of grit.
'My first scene in [Supergirl] is like, I’m fucking born to do this. Once I go on that press tour, [you’ll see] My first shot was this. Could you do this?'
