Was There Any Drama Behind Patrick J. Adams' Surprising Suits Exit?
The lead actor exited the show quite abruptly.
USA Network's Suits has always been popular, with fans relishing their courtroom drama binge-watches. However, it only really hit it big when it was featured on Netflix. That allowed millions of new viewers to discover the show for the first time. Back in the day, not many people watched USA Network as other channels were far more popular with fans of dramatic shows.
Nonetheless, with increased exposure come fresh questions. First-time Suits viewers were taken aback when actor Patrick J. Adams left the show after the seventh season. His character, Mike Ross, was a major draw for many viewers who started watching the show. Adams' sudden departure sparked speculation, leading people to question if some kind of scandal might have been the real reason behind his decision not to return to the show.
Demanding Schedule
Fortunately, Adams has always been open about his departure from Suits, sharing the reason for his abrupt exit pretty much as soon as it happened. Despite some fans' conviction that there had to have been some kind of behind-the-scenes drama that prompted the actor's refusal to continue playing Ross, it was actually sheer exhaustion that led Adams to take a break.
According to Adams himself, he simply got mighty tired of portraying the same character for years on end and felt that after the prison arc, it was time to wrap up Ross' storyline. Additionally, Adams was frustrated that he couldn't spend as much time with his wife, Troian Bellisario, and their child due to his demanding work schedule.
'After seven seasons — really, eight years of being away from home and away from my now-wife and there was that pressure. I started thinking about leaving at the end of the first half of season six after Mike was released from prison. From a story point of view, I was a little unsure of what was left for him to do,' Adams revealed.
So, the only drama behind Adams's seemingly sudden departure from Suits was that of an overworked, exhausted actor who simply wanted to finally get to spend more time with his family.
