Virgin River Season 5: Who's Mel's Real Dad and Is It Doc?
The first part ended with a big twist.
Since 2019, Virgin River has established itself as one of the finest melodramas on Netflix, revealing numerous dramatic plot twists with each season released. After being criticised by fans for inconsistent quality in recent seasons, the show, which follows LA nurse Mel as she moves to a tranquil town in California in search of a new beginning, seems to have managed to impress fans once again with its recently released first half of Season 5.
In the initial ten episodes of the season, the show introduced so many mysteries that fans found themselves pleasantly confused. They were happy that the writers decided to significantly increase the number of plot twists. However, even the eagerly anticipated revelation of Charmaine's father's secret pales in comparison to the shocking cliffhanger twist that shook fans to the core.
Mel's Real Father?
In the final moments of the first half of Season 5, Mel and Jack were joyfully decorating their new home for Christmas. Their idyllic moment was interrupted by Mel's sister, Joey, calling to reveal that she had discovered a love letter written to their mother, sent by a resident of Virgin River.
It appears that Mel's mother may have had an affair with a townsperson before Mel was born, suggesting that Mel's biological father might be someone from Virgin River. This twist came as a complete surprise, but it hasn't deterred fans from trying to deduce who Mel's real father could be.
Father Figure
Considering the dramatic nature of Virgin River, it's undeniable that the man Mel's mother had an affair with still resides in the town. Given the timeline, it's reasonable to assume it's an older gentleman.
While many characters could potentially be revealed as Mel's father, we believe Vernon 'Doc' Mullins is the most plausible candidate. His complex relationship with Mel could become even more dramatic following this unexpected big reveal.
Fans are in for a treat when the show resumes with the second half of Season 5 on 30 November.
