Virgin River's Alexandra Breckenridge is Unrecognisable in Early Role
Her character bears very little resemblance to the actress we're used to seeing on screen.
Released in 2019, Virgin River quickly became a favourite with every drama fan. Based on Robyn Carr's novels of the same name, the series follows Mel Monroe, a recently widowed nurse who relocates to the small titular town in Northern California to take up a job and start her life anew. The show is now in its fifth season.
Though Mel is the central character in only the series' first novel, she has remained the lead in the Netflix adaptation for all five seasons. Fans of Virgin River don't seem to mind, as they've fallen in love with Alexandra Breckenridge's character and the actress herself. Mel isn't Alexandra's first big role – she has numerous projects under her belt. Furthermore, some of her roles were so unconventional that she's barely even recognisable in them.
Breckenridge Starred In A Number Of Horror Films
Throughout her extensive acting career, Alexandra Breckenridge has appeared in many well-known projects. She had episodic roles on such TV giants as Dawson's Creek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She also made recurring appearances on American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, and This Is Us.
However, before that, the actress had appeared in a number of horror films. In one such film, Vampire Clan, Breckenridge looks so weird she is simply unrecognisable.
Whom Did Breckenridge Portray In Vampire Clan?
In the 2002 movie, Alexandra played Charity Lynn Keesee, a member of the titular teenage vampire group. It's difficult to tell what it is exactly that makes the actress look so different from what we're used to seeing on Virgin River. Is it Charity's aggressively red-dyed hair, nose piercing, or, indeed, the actress's young age – she was only twenty-one when she appeared in Vampire Clan?
Interestingly, Alexandra Breckenridge played another red-haired character ten years later in the first season of American Horror Story. In fact, she's also barely recognisable in that role – although it might be her character's vixen-like demeanour that's to blame this time.
On Virgin River, the actress plays a much more timid woman whom we've grown to love. Season 5 is already available on Netflix. However, the last two holiday special episodes will only drop in November.
